Bobby
is a photographer and parent of an elementary age son. He was doing
his best to earn an income by offering his photographic services at local
weddings and funerals. There is fierce competition amongst photographers,
so ACE helped him "think outside the box" and loaned him $100J to begin taking
class pictures at his son's school, Water Valley. This service is a
completely new idea for Jamaican schools. ACE Executive Director, Marla
Day-Fitzwater, even helped train Bobby to position the children in their group
shots. The families are crazy about have class pictures as keepsakes in
addition to their students' individual pictures. Bobby is donating $100J
to the Water Valley PTA for each class picture purchased! Way to go,
Bobby!

Gary is a local fisherman who takes our guests snorkeling on
free days. A trip with Gary is a real treat - you may even be helping him pull
in a fish! Gary likes to take our guests to a beautiful, private beach for an
afternoon of relaxation. Whenever possible, ACE utilizes the resources from the
neighborhood and employs the local people. Through training, mentoring and simply
expanding their opportunities to earn a living, ACE is making a difference in
people's lives.

Polio doesn't stop Mr. Ashley from raising vegetables
to support himself. He is a resident of the Top Pen community -
an area that has been the location of several ACE projects in the
past several years. When a recent tornado
came through, Mr. Ashley's home was completely destroyed. ACE
volunteers helped him to rebuild his home. We know you will love
meeting this kind and gentle man who has never let his physical
challenges prevent him from living a productive life.
